Teachers for Boston

Teachers for Boston

Several years ago a very dear friend introduced me to marathons. I thought there is no way I could ever do anything like that. I joined Bay Area Fit, a local running club to train for the Houston Half Marathon. The people who I met there were wonderful and uplifting. I ran my first 1/2 marathon a mere 3 months later with two other wonderful teachers. Now that I look back I think ignorance is bliss. As I got to mile 12, I thought to myself there is no way I can finish this. One of the amazing coaches came back for me and ran with me the last 1/2 mile. He made sure I was going to finish. When I got to the finish line the other coaches were there to  give me high-fives. That feeling of crossing the finish line is the most amazing feeling I have ever felt in my life. Achieving something that I thought was impossible.
So last week when I heard of the bombings in Boston and saw the footage all over the television, my heart just sank. I couldn’t believe that someone could even be capable of that much evil. Those runners have worked years to be able to run in the Boston Marathon. This was supposed to be the best moment of their lives and that was just taken away from them. Then I found out that some of the Bay Area Fit people were there running in it and in the crowd. I was so grateful to hear that they were all safe.
Unfortunately there were too many people that were hurt. A blogger, Michaela at The Center Based Classroom, is hosting a fund-raiser, Teachers for Boston. As a Massachusetts resident, Michaela felt the need to get involved, and I am honored to play a small part.

She has put together TWO bundles of products, grouped by grade levels (K-2 and 3-6). You can purchase either bundle for $20 (this is OVER an 85% discount!). Your entire donation will go to the  The One Fund to help the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. Click on the images below to go to her blog to purchase these bundles.
